Per Facebook, some of the people on Street Outlaws have received a notice that if they continue street racing they will have their NHRA license revoked. They have so far responded like asshats including the hashtag #StreetRacingIsNotACrime.
More hilarity at one of their facebook pages:

Dude, I street race all the time! I just keep the speed limit, let pedestrians pass, and always pull over for cops and ambulances. I even help old ladies across the street. But I'm the best street racer in my county! All those Hondas and Prius's never knew what hit them! Half the time, they don't even act they are racing. I'm so dope.

not paying state income tax in Washington is not a crime
mostly because they don't have any.

Let's be honest, is it really street racing when you're taking part of a staged "reality" TV show?

I hope they get arrested and have their cars crushed.

The funny thing is they aren't illegally street racing, at least during the end parts of the show. It's all staged... sooo technically they aren't doing anything illegal.

Better yet - have their cars sold, and money given to the poor, or something like that.

Either that, or you drive a clapped out Subaru Justy...

Yeah, I always look at the end of the week race and wonder how it is they could hold illegal street races for 4 or 5 hours on a stretch of road where they have set up gigantic work lights over a quarter mile and they are using most of the road as their pits. I always wonder who actually thinks it is a public road.
Not to mention that every time a cop shows up at their 'test hits' they get nothing more than a verbal warning (not to mention the guy with a camera standing there filming everything).

SHUT UP! ITS ALL REAL! THERE IS NOTHING STAGED ABOUT IT! THEY ARE ALWAYS RUNNING FROM THE COPS AND I'VE SEEN THEM COME 'THIS CLOSE' TO GETTING THEIR CARS IMPOUNDED.

I could see the Force girl getting a letter like that for her appearances in the show.

Like the guy hiding behind the truck when the cops stops them last week. How could he not see 1. the cameraman, and 2. the cameraman looking at the guy hiding behind the truck tire with the light on. Even the cops know not to break the 4th wall! LOLOL

My bad Mister Murder Nova.
I do watch the show, I don't condone their actions, and I do think it's absolutely stupid, but it sure is hard to change the channel from some of these shows....

maybe the engines crushed but I want their chassis

I suppose that would be appropriate, however I have no faith in local governments to do that, more likely the local PD would use the money to buy themselves more shiny military toys like they've been doing with their civil forfeiture money already.

Naw man, I keep it real, 'Murcia all the way. I drive my mom's '00 Chevy Malibu. I installed a vtec-hemi engine from a gt-r in it, a present from my dad, he's rich. Its a unused prototype.

This was always my problem with Moonshiners. Yes, these guys are making and running booze, but they've also got a camera crew with cops looking for moonshiners, and half of their operations are insanely large.
And then the guys from the show go on public tours. Clearly they're SUPER illegal.

Fuck these guys.

"Cops" on Moonshiners is one guy with a SHERIFF t-shirt. I read something that said he actually is some sort of deputy but he does the show off the clock and isn't acting in any official capacity.

they need to suspend their comp licences straight away , get the arsehats to prove themselves innocent.

The NHRA apparently thinks Street Outlaws is real and doesn't have, ambulances, paramedics, cops, whole entire damn production crews and all sorts of liability insurance. I've been at some official drag tracks that were much more dangerous than the way that show is run. I'd rather run off into a corn field than hit a wall.
Actual street racing=/ Street Outlaws

The issue with Street Outlaws is not that they are actually street racing (its pretty clear that while they are racing on a street, everything is controlled) but that it glorifies street racing and makes others think they should go drag race on a street because its cool. The NHRA was founded to STOP street racing. It was their original purpose. So when someone comes along making a huge production of "illegally" racing on streets, suddenly people think its alright to race on the streets again, defeating the NHRA's original purpose.
